Are you ready for Cherished Blogfest?

Hi CB Fans!  I’m Kate.
I’ve been asking myself, “What object do I cherish the most?
What object has the most memories attached?
What is my most useful object  no, irreplaceable object?
If I could only take one thing (not including loved ones) with me in a pinch,
what would I take if the place were on fire?”  Let’s pretend I’m Superwoman…
nah, that won’t do because (I’m sure comic fans will know) Superwoman wound
back into time so she didn’t have to decide, you, know, in THE pinch.

Anywho, I’ve found my cherished object!

um-hmmm, like i own a money. you guys are easy!

We’ll be captivated!
Read what others say about theirs.
Plus, this year I’m going to be a bloggy-reader-gal
(aka co-host) and visit participant’s pages!

Make Dan AntionDamyanti BiswasPeter Nena,
Cheryl Pennington, Mary Giese, Sharukh Bamboat,

Don’t say I didn’t warn you; you’ve had enough time.
In seventeen days tell the world about your favorite object and the story behind it.
I double-dog-dare you…

Hello Cherished Blogfest-ers!

You may have had the meaning of “cherish” in your mind, but I thought I’d give you the full meaning, a few synonyms and a little encouragement for your post.

Are you finding it difficult to come up with a cherished item or idea for this year’s blogfest?

For some of you, the item has already been chosen and a rough draft of the post has been formulated in your mind. For others, the final chosen object/idea hasn’t come to fruition. It could be that you have many cherished objects and don’t know which one to pick. It could be that you want to write about a given cherished object, but don’t know where to start. Perhaps you believe your chosen object will point you out as materialistic (I cherish my shoes!) or that your idea for a post won’t meet your own high standards of perfection.

Are you a “Charlie Brown,” frustrated by the fact that you can never kick the football (cherished object) from Lucy’s hands?

Relax, people, this is supposed to be fun.

Fun, fun, fun!

The Cherished Blogfest is a little less than three weeks out. You have plenty of time to choose your object and write a story. For right now, relax, put your feet up, and keep reading.

Your cherished object can be anything you choose. Anything. If you want to talk about your Imelda-like collection of shoes, go ahead. If the football bobble head sitting on your desk at work has a special meaning, go for it. If the bar down the street is your cherished Friday night retreat for fish and a beer, tell us about it. If you prefer to write about a person, like your mom or best friend or a special pet, just do it. Think outside the box. Is the time you spend on meditation or prayer or reading each day a cherished time? Whatever you pick, whatever idea you come up with, cherish your choice.

I could keep throwing out suggestions, but you probably get the point. I hope I have given you some inspiration.

There are so many wonderful and exciting reasons to join us for the Cherished Blogfest on July 29-30-31, 2016, that you can’t really say, “I’ve got nothing.” You do have something and the Blogfest co-hosts of Dan AntionDamyanti BiswasPeter NenaCheryl Pennington and Kate Powell, as well as myself, encourage, urge and support you in your Cherished Blogfest stories. We are all very excited to engage with you and read what comes from an awesome group of bloggers.

As for me, I’ve chosen my cherished object, taken a few photos and started a tiny bit of research. Do you want to know what object I’ve chosen?

Here’s a hint…

Confessions of the Cherished Blogfest Experience

Do you believe in miracles? Well, I’m not talking about the miracles that we read in religious books, but some unexpected events that completely change the course of your life. My name is Sharukh Bamboat and I’m one of the co-hosts of the Cherished Blogfest 2016. This will be the second time I’ll be co-hosting this blogfest along with Dan Antion, Damyanti Biswas, Mary Giese, Peter Nena, Cheryl Pennington and Kate Powell.

As many of you already know, I usually write on India Destinations where I showcase some of the destinations, food, and festivals in India. However, before I started writing my travel blog, I was a professional content writer and I still earn my living as a freelance content writer. I usually get very little time to write for myself which is why I usually don’t write 3-4 times a week like most bloggers do and I have no regrets because I don’t want to write just for the sake of writing.

Last year when the concept of co-hosting the blogfest was mentioned to me, I was excited, nervous and skeptical. It was a new ground for me. I’m not a very social person. I am shy, reserved and usually invisible online. However, I liked the idea and I readily jumped in to support my co-hosts. While we were still in the preparation mode, we were surprised at the positive response that we received and more than 100 bloggers joined in to participate in the blogfest. For me, it was nothing less than hosting a movie award night. I was paranoid and super excited because I usually don’t interact with so many people and now I had to do it because I was one of the co-hosts.

I wrote my Cherished Blogfest post and got busy reading what others had written. It was a great experience because everybody was sharing about moments and things that have stayed in their minds and hearts forever. Some posts were good, some were highly emotional and touching and some were straight to the point, but every blog post had something unique about it. As a writer, it was a great experience to know and understand how human beings are attached to things, incidents and memories.

However, more than reading the blog posts, it was the social experience that I enjoyed the most. If you are a reserved and shy person like me, this is the perfect opportunity for you to open your heart and meet people who are just like you. For me, the Cherished Blogfest was a giant leap forward into the world of social interaction. I made blog friends who have stayed with me till date and I got the opportunity to share my thoughts and views and in exchange learn new things from them and understand their perspective of life. It was a fruitful and enriching experience that certainly changed the way I blog now, it has also impacted me as a human being because I now interact with more bloggers who have their own knowledgebase and experiences to share.

If you missed out being the part of the Cherished Blogfest last year you can become a part of it this year. All you need to do is sign up and place the Cherished Blogfest badge on your blog’s sidebar and help us spread the word on the social media. You may use the hashtag #CBF16.
